Welcome to Croft No. 9

a handcrafted Highland retreat built with heart

Created by Robin and Emma Harvey in January 2025, this unique space reflects a deep family connection to Highland hospitality. With roots in Portree, Emma follows in the footsteps of generations of women in her family who have opened their homes to travellers. Robin, a skilled carpenter, brought the vision to life by hand, working with local tradespeople and using Scottish larch and natural materials from the area. Inspired by traditional croft houses and elevated with a sense of space and luxury, Croft No. 9 is a thoughtful blend of heritage, craft, and comfort.

Our History

Croft No. 9 was created by Robin and Emma Harvey in early 2025. Emma grew up in Portree and comes from a family with a strong tradition of Highland hospitality—her grandmother ran a B&B back in the 70s,

and her mum and sister still welcome guests to this day.

Robin is a talented carpenter and built the croft by hand, working with local tradespeople and using Scottish Larch and materials sourced right here in the Highlands. The design takes inspiration from the traditional croft houses that once dotted the landscape, but with a fresh, modern twist that

brings in space, comfort, and a touch of luxury.

Together, they’ve poured their hearts into creating a peaceful retreat that’s rooted in the landscape, the community, and a warm Highland welcome.

Our Faith

THE SCOTTISH HAITIAN FOUNDATION

Robin and Emma are a Christian couple who founded a charitable initiative in Haiti in 2018. Each year, they support children in accessing education and work closely with local schools to improve the lives of young people in the community. Their charity also provides food and essential support to five families each month. As their business grows, Robin and Emma are committed to investing even more into these projects. They warmly invite guests to visit their charity website to learn more about their work in Haiti and to help raise awareness of the challenges faced by those living there.
